Apply pressure by using an acetabular pressurizer. Maintain pressure until the cement is sufficiently doughy. Time will vary (average 2 - 3 minutes) depending on type of cement used.
Collected data has shown that high pressurization is needed to achieve micro-interlock. This reaffirms the necessity of working in a contained cavity and not removing the transversal ligament.

Introduction and alignment of the cup
This is the most difficult part of the operation.
Preposition the cup by hand. Check the alignment using a cup positioner. Maintain cup position with a cup holder until the cement has polymerized.

Even cement mantle
You should have a 2 - 3 mm cement mantle around the cup, yielding good stress distribution.

Protect the cup
Reduction of so-called 'third body wear' is of greatest importance.
Protect the polyethylene cup from scratches, as well as from bone and cement debris, by using a cup protector.
