Protective gloves

Conventional surgical gloves (latex) provide only limited protection against monomer (up to 1 min). As an additional precaution when handling MMA, an extra pair of Polyethylene (PE) gloves should be worn. The PE gloves provide 5 min extra protection.

Note that wearing an additional pair of standard surgical gloves provides no more protection than if only one pair is worn.

Persons with known contact sensitization should consider wearing butyl rubber gloves, which provide maximal skin protection but limit sense of touch.
